Responsible for patient meals selections, including patient menu management and special requests. Provides support to ensure that all patients receive specified diets based on specifications, preferences and/or allergies ordered. Communicate and escalate patient food concerns regarding nutrition needs or requirements throughout the system. Provide effective timing of services and accuracy of modified diets. Performs all assigned duties and tasks in an effective, efficient manner and in compliance with all appropriate regulatory agency requirements. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in food service or hospitality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous food services experience in healthcare/hospital setting preferred
  • Previous experience within customer service call center
  • Previous therapeutic diet and menu selection planning highly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to operate phone and computer systems including Microsoft Outlook, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and processing patient dietary orders, among other applications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with Nursing in patient care areas to ensure patient orders comply with their nutritional requirements or restrictions in timely manner.
  • Support patients and caregivers to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies and sensitivities; cultural and religious preferences or patient inquiry regarding optional selections.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports required for the patient dining program.
  • Provide assistance with customer service recovery to patients and caregivers as needed.
  • Support and participate in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
  • Answer and follow up with Diet Office inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and track the patient and family meal trays to ensure timely and accurately delivery.
  • Comply with all infection control, safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures, and regulations.
  • Partner with Food Services Attendants in special meal requests for patient tray lines as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service recovery for continuous quality improvement and escalate as needed.
  • Utilize multiple computer and phone software including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, patient ordering system, etc.
