As a Diesel Technician with Midwest Bus Sales, you’ll inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair buses and medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in a dealership service environment.

You’ll work alongside an experienced service team while continuing to build your technical skills through company-supported training and education.

Location: Litchfield, IL

Pay: $26–$40/hour, based on experience, plus monthly bonus potential

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

The Job

As a Diesel Technician with Midwest Bus Sales, you’ll inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair buses and medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in a dealership service environment.

You’ll work alongside an experienced service team while continuing to build your technical skills through company-supported training and education.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, oil changes, and routine service
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, diesel, and other vehicle systems
  • Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools to troubleshoot and complete repairs
  • Communicate estimated repair time and required materials to the Service Writer
  • Complete work within established Standard Repair Times
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document them accurately on repair orders
  • Complete repair orders and document parts usage and labor time using fleet maintenance software
  • Review and complete repairs identified through vehicle inspection reports
  • Perform emergency service calls as needed
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow established safety procedures
  • Participate in technical training and continuing education opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional mechanical repair experience required
  • Experience in diesel, medium/heavy-duty truck, bus, automotive, heavy equipment, or a related mechanical field
  • Knowledge of vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
  • Familiarity with electrical, brake, suspension, hydraulic, or diesel systems
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record under company MVR requirements
  • CDL with air brake endorsement preferred, or ability to obtain
  • ASE or other relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Experience with CAT, Cummins, or Detroit engines is a plus
  • Must own the tools required to perform assigned work
  • Basic computer skills for repair orders and service documentation
  • Strong organization, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a service team
  • Initiative and follow-through with assigned work and daily priorities
