GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of our fleet, which includes heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who prioritizes safety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to keep our fleet running at peak performance.
Starting Pay: up to $35/hr (Pay Will Increase Based on EXP/Qualifications)
Starting Shift: 2pm-12am M-F. Working on Refuse Trucks. OT after 40hrs!

Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment.
Fleet Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles.
Planning & Scheduling: Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system, ensuring all necessary parts are procured for a successful maintenance plan.
Administrative Duties: Accurately complete daily reports, work orders, parts orders, and other required administrative tasks.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in safe conditions and in strict compliance with federal, state/provincial, local laws, and company safety policies.
Collaboration & Training: Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups on equipment, coordinate repair schedules, and aid in the training and orientation of new team members.
Tool Maintenance: Possess, provide, and maintain the personal hand and power tools necessary to perform heavy equipment maintenance, while keeping a clean and organized work area.
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); a technical diploma or degree in diesel mechanics is highly desired.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a diesel mechanic.
Technical Skills: Computer literacy is required, with the ability to be trained on specialized software systems (experience with diagnostic software is a major plus).
Safety Screenings: Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
Language: Ability to understand and effectively use repair and parts manuals written in English.
Physical Effort: Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention is necessary.
Environment: Frequently exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, hot/cold weather conditions, and toxic or caustic chemicals/fumes. Occasionally required to work in high, precarious places.
