The starting pay for this position is $25.20/hr. and may increase up to $33.60/hr. based on experience. The Diesel Mechanic Maintenance position is responsible for performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel-powered trucks, trailers, Tyson pickup trucks, and other company vehicles and equipment. This position helps ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the transportation fleet while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all Tyson Foods policies and procedures. The Diesel Mechanic reports directly to the Sr. Shop Supervisor.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Physical Requirements: Must be willing and able to perform the following:
Requirement: Must have a valid drivers license. Must have at least 6 months’ vehicle mechanic experience documented on application or resume. Diesel experience preferred.
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Must be able to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment and follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred: Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, diesel technician, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic. Experience with preventative maintenance programs, diesel engine diagnostics, brakes, air systems, suspension systems, electrical systems, trailer maintenance, hydraulic systems, and DOT inspections. Experience in using computerized diagnostic equipment and maintenance documentation systems is preferred.
