Job Description

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Westgate team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will play a vital role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and on the road, carrying out servicing, fault diagnosis, repairs, preventative maintenance and COF inspections across a diverse range of vehicles.

About You

You're a qualified and reliable mechanic who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. You enjoy working as part of a team but are equally confident working independently when needed.

You'll bring:

  • A proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • A commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • The ability to communicate effectively and follow compliance requirements
  • An interest in buses, transport, and emerging vehicle technologies

Experience working with electric vehicles is advantageous but not essential.

Your Skills

  • NZQA Level 4 Heavy Automotive Qualification, or equivalent workshop experience
  • Current New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence (Class 2-4 preferred)
  • Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic systems and workshop technology
  • Health and safety focused
  • Physically capable of carrying out workshop duties
  • Computer and technology literate

Experience with EV systems or alternative fuel vehicles will be highly regarded.
