About Us

Our services include native seed and plant production, shoreline and wetland restoration, prescribed burns, conservation grazing, vegetation management, and ecological consulting. We also support solar and infrastructure projects with pollinator-friendly practices and land stewardship expertise.

Our Shop team ensures field crews have safe, functional, and reliable equipment. You’ll play a critical role in supporting field crews by keeping our fleet operational, reliable, and ready to perform. You’ll work independently and as part of a small team to handle repairs and maintenance.

The Diesel Mechanic/Welder is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing agricultural and heavy equipment, with a strong focus on diesel engine systems and welding/fabrication. This role works across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

You’ll work in a hands-on shop environment with responsibility for troubleshooting issues, completing repairs, and supporting seasonal equipment readiness. Success in this role comes from strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and fix problems before they impact operations.

What You Will Do

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drivetrains, transmissions, PTOs, and final drives
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on tractors, sprayers, loaders, and support equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and service manuals
  • Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, fatigue, and structural issues
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and key mechanical components
  • Complete seasonal maintenance and off-season rebuilds
  • Replace and repair components such as bearings, seals, chains, belts, and wear parts
  • Perform precision fitting, alignment, and torquing using calibrated tools
  • Perform MIG welding and fabrication work to repair or reinforce equipment and components
  • Fabricate or modify equipment frames, brackets, guards, and structural components for custom utilization of equipment.
  • Use shop tools including welders, torches, grinders, and cutting equipment
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety, quality, and operational standards

What You Will Need To Be Successful

  • Proven experience in diesel engine repair and agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
  • Experience with welding and metal fabrication (MIG required; TIG/stick preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage repair priorities
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment systems
