Job Description

Behind every great lawn care and pest control team is a fleet of trucks and equipment that need to run like a well-oiled machine — and that’s where you come in. We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Mechanic to keep our lawn care and pest control fleet running safely and efficiently. From service trucks to small engine equipment, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our technicians on the road and our customers happy.

Our Fleet Mechanic assembles, maintains, and repairs machinery and vehicles for our branch. They are responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of automobiles, trucks, machines, engines, pumps, and mechanical systems through inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and replacing filters. They also work extensively on small engines.

Wage Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. Starting wage is determined based on relevant experience. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

The essential functions for this position are as follows:

  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
  • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, welding and electrical systems).
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues
  • May be required to outside of normal schedule, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, as it may be necessary to fulfil the duties or the needs of the business.
  • Expected to have regular attendance for scheduled shifts, and to notify supervisor within a timely manner of absenteeism or tardiness
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance as outlined in Senske’s employee handbook. Follow safety regulations and work in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of professional mechanical experience, including experience with engine repair, small-engine repair, pumps, and PTO systems.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Proven experience as Mechanic with strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple repairs and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to complete paperwork and communicate effectively about equipment issues and repairs.
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have a history of safe driving
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test (THC excluded).
  • At least 21 years old or older (requirement to drive a company vehicle)
  • Safety-minded and dependable.
  • Committed to maintaining a clean, professional, and safe work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently to solve problems.
  • Willing to jump in and help the team when needed.

Preferred Experience

  • ASE certification or vocational/technical training in automotive, diesel, or mechanical repair.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
