Job Description

Diesel Mechanic

Schedule: Second shift, starting at 2:00 p.m., working 10-11 hours a day, 50-60 hours a week. Monday – Friday, occasional Saturday’s.

Pay: $22 to $32 per hour, based on experience.

We are seeking a highly experienced and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Monroe, LA This role is responsible for advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy diesel equipment within our fleet. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to high quality workmanship and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced engine and exhaust diagnostics including DPF systems for MACK and Cummins
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems and electrical and wiring issues
  • Diagnose and service air brake systems including Bendix and Meritor
  • Perform suspension and steering diagnostics and repairs on multiple system types
  • Diagnose and repair both automatic and manual transmissions
  • Complete welding and fabrication tasks as needed
  • Maintain organization of tools, workspace, and shop housekeeping
  • Utilize McNeilus equipment knowledge when applicable
  • Complete required documentation, maintain accurate service records, and follow company procedures
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment when needed (CDL required)

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of relevant experience in diesel or heavy truck fleet maintenance. Waste industry experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MACK and Cummins diagnostics is a plus
  • Proficiency with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repair
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of heavy truck suspensions, steering, braking systems, and transmissions
  • Valid Class A or Class B CDL is strongly preferred
  • ASE certification is a plus
