About the Role

A leading regional healthcare provider known for patient-centric care is seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse to join their nephrology services team in the greater Chicago, Illinois area. This is a full-time permanent position within an established renal care environment dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality treatment to patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. The ideal candidate brings hands-on hemodialysis experience, a strong commitment to patient education, and the clinical confidence to manage complex renal patients across an outpatient or inpatient setting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
  • Assess patient condition before, during, and after dialysis, identifying and responding to changes in clinical status promptly
  • Administer medications, manage vascular access sites, and troubleshoot dialysis equipment issues as they arise
  • Educate patients and families on renal disease management, dietary guidelines, fluid restrictions, and treatment compliance
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of treatment parameters, patient responses, and nursing assessments
  • Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and care coordinators to support individualized patient care plans
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection control practices, and ongoing staff education activities
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, tested, and maintained per department standards

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing in the state of Illinois
  • Minimum of 1 year of hemodialysis nursing experience in an outpatient, acute care, or hospital-based setting
  • Current BLS certification required
  • CNN or CDN certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Solid understanding of fluid and electrolyte management, vascular access care, and renal pharmacology
  • Strong patient education skills with ability to communicate complex clinical concepts clearly
  • Ability to manage a patient assignment independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available
