Job Title: Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN)

A healthcare facility in Wyoming is seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) to lead the establishment of a new home dialysis program (home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and manage in-center hemodialysis (HD) services for a small startup unit. This is a ground-floor opportunity, with the RN working closely with nephrologists, administrators, and certifying agencies to launch and develop the program. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in home HD, PD, and in-center HD, along with familiarity in Baxter (Vantive) and Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) dialysis systems Prior managerial or startup experience in launching dialysis programs is highly desirable.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Clinic Setup & Compliance
- Collaborate with nephrologists and administrators to establish clinical protocols, policies, and procedures for home HD and PD programs.
- Work with local government and healthcare regulators to secure all necessary certifications and licenses for launching the dialysis unit.
- Coordinate state and CMS certification inspections and documentation.
Equipment & Systems Management
- Oversee installation and calibration of dialysis equipment, including Baxter (Vantive) and FMC systems
- Ensure machines for both home and in-center HD meet operational and quality standards.
- Develop training materials and user guidelines for equipment operation.
Program Development & Patient Care
- Lead the creation of a patient-centric dialysis care model
- Establish infection control practices, emergency protocols, and supply management systems
- Assist in building an interdisciplinary care team (social work, dietitian, etc.) and developing workflows.
- Once patients are enrolled, take the lead in training and educating home dialysis patients (and their caregivers) on safe dialysis practices.
- Oversee in-center HD treatments, ensuring high-quality care and patient safety
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor clinical outcomes and quality indicators
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with CMS quality standards for dialysis care.
Leadership & Growth
- Assist leadership in planning for scaling the program
- Help recruit, mentor, and oversee additional nursing staff or dialysis technicians as patient volume increases.
- Potential to advance into a Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or Program Director role as the unit expands.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Registered Nurse ( RN) with an active Wyoming RN license (or compact state license with ability to obtain WY licensure).
- Dialysis Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in dialysis nursing, including home hemodialysis (HHD), peritoneal dialysis (PD), and in-center dialysis (HD)
- Experience in implementing best-in-class dialysis practices
- Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with Baxter (Vantive) and Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) dialysis machines
- Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and train others on PD cyclers and HD machines
- Clinic Startup/Management Experience (Preferred):
- Prior experience launching a new dialysis program or clinic
- Charge nurse or managerial experience in a dialysis setting
- Understanding of CMS certification, state health department regulations, and dialysis program compliance
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong patient assessment, cannulation, and education skills related to dialysis.
- Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of dialysis care in home therapy settings.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills to guide a growing team.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with physicians, administrators, and regulatory agencies
- Ability to handle regulatory challenges and drive program success
