Austin, MN is a city of 26,000 located 50 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN and 40 miles southwest of Rochester, MN. The area offers unlimited, four-season recreational opportunities (biking, golf, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and over 30 parks). We have a great family environment with safe and high-quality public and private schools, including a community college. There are a variety of sporting events from high school and recreational to the Austin Bruins national hockey league team. The local symphony orchestra, theaters, year round festivals and the SPAM Museum offer arts and activities for everyone.
Owatonna, MN is located just 40 miles west of Rochester, Minnesota, and 60 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Owatonna is home to more than 40 industrial business firms. One of the city's most popular recreation areas is Kaplan's Woods Parkway, which offers 225 acres for hiking, biking, jogging, picnicking and cross-country skiing. Within the scenic Parkway, Lake Kohlmier offers swimming, sailing, fishing and canoeing. Excellent golfing is available at public and private courses. For the tennis enthusiast, both outdoor and indoor facilities provide opportunities for year-round participation. The Owatonna Arts Center displays the work of many local and national artists. A unique Sculpture Garden attracts visitors as does the Little Theatre of Owatonna. Cabela’s Outfitters, the Heritage Hall Transportation Museum (and its interactive children's exhibit) and conventions attract more than one million outdoor enthusiasts to the area annually.
Red Wing, MN is home of Red Wing Shoes, Riedell Ice and Roller Skates and Red Wing Stoneware. The Cannon Valley Trail has its eastern terminus in Red Wing. Treasure Island Resort & Casino is on the nearby Prairie Island Indian Reservation. The National Trust for Historic Preservation placed Red Wing on its 2008 distinctive destinations list, which adds twelve communities annually nationwide. Red Wing was added for its "impressive architecture and enviable natural environment." Red Wing is connected to Wisconsin by Red Wing Bridge; it carries U.S. Route 63 over the Mississippi River and its backwaters. The size of the community is about 17,000 people.
