What we want

The Diagnostic Laboratory Technician I (Histology) performs routine diagnostic histology laboratory tasks, assists in customer service, monitors computers for lab equipment and compiling data. They may provide technical assistance in research projects in the area of small animal gastrointestinal function and disease.

Salary: $20.67/hour

Location/Schedule: College Station, TX/Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm; Persons in this position are considered essential. May require work during holidays or TAMU closures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic histology duties which include processing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover-slipping and scanning slides.

  • Processes paperwork involving histology submissions, including generating worksheets and emails to/from clients and pathologists.

  • Maintains adequate supplies and reagents as needed for efficient laboratory function.

  • Completes order and receipt logs to assure timely and correct arrival of orders.

  • Maintains equipment and laboratory spaces.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a laboratory

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for up to 8 hours.

  • Lift and/or move light weight objects.

  • Must not have inhibiting allergies or sensitivities to organic compounds, solvents, and dogs or cats.
