Job Description

Schedule: Days/Evenings/Weekends- 4 to 10 hour shifts/varies

Pay Range: $19.40 - $22.50, based on experience.

Main Function:


  • The DI Assistant exhibits leadership skills in communication, team building, process improvement, development of responsibility through delegation of activity, and promoting office efficiencies.

  • Demonstrates skills in communication and prioritizing assignments.

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with all system departments, the medical staff and other health care professionals at Thompson Health.

  • The DI Assistant exhibits time management skills, keyboarding skills and multi-tasking abilities to assure business components of the department are maintained at an efficient and effective level.

  • Makes every effort to satisfy the needs of every customer in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

  • The DI Assistant has a working knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging testing and understands the complex scheduling issues involved with timely and appropriate testing of patients.

Required Job Specific Competencies:


  • The DI Assistant will provide clerical support for the Diagnostic Imaging department through interaction and coordination with the Diagnostic Imaging Director, Supervisors and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging.

  • The DI Assistant plays a vital role in assuring diagnostic care is made available to each patient through referrals, appointments and services.

  • The DI Assistant provides full support for the Diagnostic Imaging Department in the form of telephone response, patient scheduling of Mammography future and recall appointments, obtaining physician order prior to testing, verifying accuracy of request with order in McKesson Paragon and PACS.

  • The DI Assistant will manage the maintenance of medical records, Mammography film filing and the dept’s computerized system PACS system for digital imaging.

  • The DI Assistant will assist in, and perform diverse tasks required to maintain an efficient and organized office.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required or previous experience.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Medical terminology strongly desired or must agree to complete on line course within 6 months of hire
  • Secretarial/Clerical experience with strong organizational skills preferred.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel helpful.
  • Computer knowledge and skills including but not limited to the various McKesson Paragon applications involved in scheduling, ordering and resulting of Diagnostic Imaging examinations and on-line digital imaging (PACS) preferred.

  • 2 to 3 years of previous medical office and/or hospital experience preferred.

  • 1 to 2 years as computerized or electronic scheduling experience preferred.

Pay Range: $19.40 - $22.50
