The Registered Dietitian/Diabetes Educator functions as a registered dietitian /diabetes educator in a variety of settings, including inpatient Diabetes Education, the Outpatient Diabetes and Nutrition Self-Management Education program, community events and education, and the Diabetes Support Group. Primary responsibilities include screening, assessing, developing, and implementing individualized nutritional care and education as well as diabetes self-management education to individuals, families, and groups and other patient populations serviced; collaborating with the interdisciplinary health care team to facilitate continuity of care at home and in the community; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required
Master’s in Dietetics or Nutrition or related field preferred
Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Association of Nutrition and Dietetics required
Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Certification OR Eligible and willing to obtain required CDCES or BC-ADM certification within two (2) years of DCES hire date including documented completion of 15 CEUs in diabetes-related education within 4 months of hire and each ADA anniversary year thereafter until certification is obtained.
