
Position Title: DGM – Buying & Merchandising, Accessories
Department: Mahindra Auto Accessories Team
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra
Reporting To: VP & Head - Merchandising & Accessories Business
As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories team, the Deputy General Manager (DGM) – Buying & Merchandising will lead the end-to-end buying, merchandising, product development, and procurement strategy for Lifestyle & Outdoor merchandise. This role will be responsible for building a strong, consumer-relevant assortment, driving commercial performance, and ensuring operational excellence across sourcing and delivery. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping category strategy, optimizing inventory, and driving profitability while aligning with Mahindra’s brand positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Buying & Merchandising Leadership
Lead buying, merchandising, product development, and procurement for (Lifestyle, Luggage, Outdoor etc.) categories.
Define assortment strategy aligned with brand positioning and customer needs.
OTB Planning & Range Management
Own OTB (Open-to-Buy) planning, budgeting, and inventory control.
Drive range planning to ensure optimal product mix, pricing, and category performance.
Vendor & Sourcing Strategy
Develop and execute vendor strategy including sourcing, onboarding, and performance management.
Manage artisan sourcing and partnerships to build differentiated product offerings.
Trend & Category Management
Oversee trend research and integrate insights into buying and merchandising decisions.
Guide category teams to develop relevant and competitive product assortments.
Cost, Quality & Delivery Excellence
Drive cost negotiations with vendors to achieve profitability targets.
Ensure adherence to quality standards and timely delivery schedules.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Team Leadership
Collaborate with design, marketing, and supply chain teams for seamless execution.
Lead and mentor team members across buying, merchandising, and procurement functions.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in buying & merchandising and retail operations
Proficiency in OTB planning and inventory management
Experience in vendor management and sourcing strategy
Strong commercial acumen with focus on margins and category performance.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Effective leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Experience & Qualifications
8–10 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or category management, preferably in automotive, lifestyle, or retail sectors.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or related field (MBA preferred).
Proven track record of managing categories, vendor ecosystems, and driving business performance.
