Position Definition

Covenant Aviation Security (CAS) is seeking Security Guards to support UPS operations at Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW). Security Guards play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment by controlling access to restricted areas, verifying credentials, conducting inspections, monitoring activity, and enforcing security procedures in accordance with airport regulations and company policies. This position serves as a visible security presence and requires individuals who demonstrate professionalism, vigilance, strong customer service skills, and a commitment to safety and security.

Employment Compensation & Benefits

Covenant Aviation Security offers a competitive compensation package, with a starting hourly rate of $19.51 per hour.

Schedule & Hours

Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Available Shifts: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM and 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Days of Operation: Monday – Sunday

Weekend availability is required.

Specific schedules will be determined based on operational needs and position availability.

Essential Functions

Screening Operations

  • Conduct physical inspections of personal property in accordance with TSA regulations.
  • Operate X-ray equipment, Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment, and other approved screening technology.
  • Verify all person’s credentials and badges, ensuring the name, company, and expiration date are all present on the badge. Verifying the picture matches the person seeking access.
  • Identify prohibited or suspicious items and follow established escalation procedures.
  • Verify shipping documentation and ensure compliance with customer and TSA requirements.
  • Prevent unauthorized or prohibited materials from entering aircraft.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete required reports, logs, and screening documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow all TSA, UPS, and Covenant Aviation Security Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain operational awareness and communicate security concerns to supervisors.
  • Direct and regulate the movement of employees and the public by vehicle or on foot to ensure the safety of UPS clients, customers, guests, personnel, and company property.
  • Utilize radios and other communication equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident
  • Must possess an original U.S. Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or a valid U.S. Passport for I-9 verification.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a valid state-issued Driver's License or Identification Card.
  • Must successfully pass:

o TSA Security Threat Assessment

o Airport Security Background Investigation

o 7-year employment, education, and criminal history verification

o Pre-employment, random, and annual drug screening requirements

o Must be able to pass a color vision recognition test

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to safely work in environments where trained detection dogs are regularly present.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous screening, aviation security, warehouse, logistics, or security experience.
  • Experience operating X-ray or screening equipment.
  • Experience working in a regulated or safety-sensitive environment.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.
  • Distinguish colors and identify objects displayed on X-ray equipment.
  • Work in warehouse and environments with varying temperatures.
  • Maintain the physical ability to safely perform the functions of this role.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in Guard Shacks and air cargo facilities at Dallas Fort-Worth Airport.
  • Regular exposure to noise, warehouse equipment, 18-wheeler trucks, and varying indoor/outdoor temperatures.
  • Scheduled work hours will vary based on operational needs.
