Job Description

Business Growth (30%)

  • Execute the Bank's merchant acquiring strategy to achieve business growth, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Drive the expansion of acquiring channels, including POS, card acquiring, e-commerce acquiring, KCB Lipa, QR payments, and other digital payment solutions.
  • Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and partnerships to increase transaction volumes and merchant penetration.
  • Contribute to the Bank's digital payments and digital transformation strategy.
  • Support merchant acquisition, onboarding, activation, and retention initiatives across target market segments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants, aggregators, fintechs, payment service providers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage the merchant portfolio to ensure growth in active merchants, transaction volumes, and revenue generation.
  • Monitor merchant performance and implement initiatives to improve merchant activity and retention.

POS and Acquiring Business Management (25%)

  • Oversee the deployment, utilization, and performance of POS terminals and other payment acceptance devices.
  • Monitor acquiring transaction trends and implement strategies to increase card usage and merchant acceptance.
  • Ensure timely merchant settlements and effective management of acquiring operations.
  • Optimize acquiring channels to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • E-Commerce and Digital Payments (10%)
  • Drive the growth and adoption of e-commerce payment solutions and digital acceptance channels.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative payment products and services.
  • Monitor industry trends and recommend enhancements to strengthen the Bank's competitive position in digital payments.

International Money Transfer (IMT) Business (10%)

  • Manage and grow the Bank's international money transfer business through strategic partnerships and channel optimization.
  • Work closely with remittance partners to increase transaction volumes and customer adoption.
  • Identify opportunities for new remittance corridors and value-added services.
  • Monitor business performance and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Revenue and Financial Management (10%)

  • Develop and manage business plans, budgets, and revenue forecasts for the acquiring portfolio.
  • Achieve agreed revenue, transaction volume, merchant acquisition, and profitability targets.
  • Track and analyze business performance indicators and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve overall business efficiency.

Product Development and Innovation (5%)

  • Support the development, enhancement, and commercialization of acquiring and payment solutions.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technology, operations, and business teams to implement new products and features.
  • Drive innovation to improve customer experience and business performance.

Risk, Compliance and Governance (5%)

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, card scheme rules, AML/CFT policies, and the Bank's internal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor acquiring risks, fraud trends, chargebacks, and disputes, and implement mitigation measures.
  • Ensure merchants comply with onboarding, KYC, and due diligence requirements.
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments related to acquiring services.

Operational Management (5%)

  • Oversee the end-to-end acquiring lifecycle, including merchant onboarding, transaction processing, settlement, reconciliation, and support.
  • Ensure service delivery standards and operational controls are maintained across all acquiring channels.
  • Work closely with Operations, Technology, Risk, and Compliance teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Monitor vendor and service provider performance against agreed service levels.

Customer Experience (5%)

  • Champion exceptional merchant and customer experiences across all acquiring and payment solutions.
  • Address customer complaints and service issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Implement initiatives to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty, and product adoption.
  • Reporting and Stakeholder Management (5%)
  • Prepare and present business performance reports to management and relevant committees.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, payment schemes, fintechs, merchants, and international partners.

Lead and Team Development (5%)

  • Support, coach, and develop team members to achieve business objectives.
  • Establish performance goals and monitor individual and team performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support succession planning and talent development within the acquiring function.
