Job Description

The purpose of this position is:

To ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of all mechanical material‑handling equipment in the Concentrate Barn and Ship loading Area—including hoppers/feeders, conveyor systems, sump pumps, banana spouts, conveyor structures, and hydraulic cylinders—in order to secure smooth concentrate loading operations and prevent production downtime.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

1. Operational & Maintenance Execution

• Lead, supervise, and control daily mechanical maintenance activities to achieve high equipment availability and support continuous shiploading and barn operations.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and shutdown work, ensuring manpower, tools, and spare parts are efficiently prepared.
• Conduct systematic troubleshooting, verify root causes, and determine effective corrective actions to avoid repeated failures.
• Ensure maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history are updated accurately in the maintenance system.

2. Safety Leadership

• Enforce all safety standards and procedures, including SOP/JSA, inspections, safety talks, energy isolation, lifting procedures, and confined‑space practices.
• Ensure proper PPE usage and immediately address any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, or environmental hazards.

3. Continuous Improvement

• Review, refine, and standardize maintenance procedures to improve work quality and promote consistent safe practices.
• Identify opportunities for equipment modification or mechanical improvement to increase reliability, reduce wear, and extend component life.
• Recommend long‑term solutions for chronic equipment issues to support cost efficiency and operational stability.

4. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with planners to confirm job scopes, verify spare part readiness, and prioritize work based on operational needs.
• Communicate equipment conditions, job progress, risks, and required support during daily coordination, production meetings, and maintenance reviews.
• Align maintenance priorities with operational targets, especially during loading vessel windows.

5. People Development

• Identify crew competency gaps and develop targeted training plans to strengthen technical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and mentoring to technicians to build a strong, accountable mechanical maintenance team.
• Ensure all team members understand job expectations, procedures, and safety requirements.

6. Environmental Compliance

• Manage proper handling, storage, and disposal of oil, grease, rags, and contaminated waste.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in all mechanical work areas to prevent spills and contamination, especially around the shiploading zone.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in mining, port operations, or heavy industrial material‑handling environments.
