Job Description

The Sectra Cross-Enterprise group builds and operates modern cloud solutions for medical workflows. We need more (AI‑native) software engineers (devops) who thrives on learning, adapts quickly to new challenges, and cares deeply about building reliable, secure, and usable products that improve patient care. You will, together with your teammates, design and deliver production-grade software while leveraging modern AI tools and techniques to accelerate development and enhance product capabilities.

Why Sectra?

An aging population and a healthcare system under increasing pressure have made the need for effective medical IT solutions greater than ever. At Sectra, we bring more than 30 years of experience in developing software solutions that enable healthcare providers to efficiently manage medical images and information for diagnosis and patient follow-up. Sectra is built on a strong, customer-focused corporate culture—forming the foundation of our success as a leader in customer satisfaction and consistently ranked among the best employers in Sweden.

The Cross-Enterprise group

Hospitals need to exchange data with each other, with patients and with other third party agencies, on a daily basis. Some workflows are completely based on remote working, for instance utilizing experts or just available workforce in other locations. At Cross-Enterprise, our modern cloud platform connects healthcare systems across the globe, shortening queues and time to care. Our team of 16 people handle all aspects of the operation - from customer interviews and development to daily operations. Currently, we are expanding into other clinical areas and markets, so it's never a dull moment!

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality services and applications used in medical imaging workflows
  • Apply AI tools (e.g., code assistants, code generators) responsibly to increase velocity without compromising quality, security, or cost
  • Collaborate with product management, UX, clinicians and end-users, to translate clinical needs into robust solutions
  • Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, observability, documentation, deployment and support
  • Implement and uphold strong engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, performance profiling etc
  • Work with medical imaging standards and infrastructure (e.g., DICOM, HL7/FHIR, PACS/VNA, cloud services)
  • Continuously learn: evaluate new tools, frameworks, and AI capabilities; share knowledge across the team

At Sectra, we hire for attitude and ability – train for skill. This means who you are is more important than your previous experiences. There are a few core abilities that are central for any role. We always look for your willingness and ability to learn and take on new tasks fast, utilize previous experiences and quickly grasp new information.

What you bring

  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures/algorithms, concurrency, networking, data transfer, API design, software architecture
  • Proficiency in one or more languages used for high-performance frontend and backend development (e.g., C#, Typescript, React) and modern tooling
  • Experience with cloud services, Linux containers, and CI/CD (AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes or serverless)
  • Quality mindset: automated testing, observability (metrics/logs/traces), and performance awareness
  • Security and privacy literacy (secure coding, handling sensitive data)
  • Curiosity and learning agility; ability to adapt to new domains, tools, and AI workflows
  • Required: Humour and strong academic record from university and upper secondary school; please include transcripts or grade summaries in your application
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, product-oriented approach

Nice to have, or learn on the job

  • Experience in medical imaging or healthcare IT (DICOM, HL7/FHIR, imaging pipelines, PACS/VNA)
  • Infrastructure and reliability skills (SRE practices, performance engineering, cost/FinOps)
  • Pursue passions outside of work, whether in sports, music, the arts, or unique hobbies

Why this role is more than a job

Your work will impact clinicians and patients. We believe great engineering, used responsibly, can meaningfully improve diagnostics and care. If you’re motivated by purpose as much as by technology, you’ll feel at home here.

What we offer

  • Full-stack devops - with AI tools. This is what every modern day software developer needs to know and you can develop your skills with us
  • An engineering culture that values quality, security, and impact
