Aboutthe Opportunity

TheNational IT – Service Lifecycle Management departmenthas an immediate opening fora DevOps Engineer - IT Discovery Specialist, reporting toSenior Product Manager.

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer specializing in BMC Helix Discovery implementation and management. This role willbe responsible fordeploying, configuring, andmaintainingBMC Helix Discovery environments both on-premises and in government cloud environments. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between infrastructure discovery and CMDB(Configuration Management Database)integration, ensuringaccuratedata flow and system reliability.

What You Will Do:

  • Install, configure, andmaintainBMC Helix Discovery in both on-premises and government cloud environments

  • Set up and manage credential management for comprehensive discovery across all network segments

  • Configure and troubleshoot device discovery processes to ensure complete infrastructure visibility

  • Develop and fine-tune TKU (Technology, Knowledge, and Update) patterns to enhance discovery capabilities

  • Design andoptimizesynchronization patterns to effectively integrate discovery data with ServiceNow CMDB

  • Create andmaintainscripts to extract specialized data (particularly software information) from the discovery repository

  • Create andmaintainapplication dependency maps and ensure theiraccuratetransmission to ServiceNow CMDB

  • Develop custom data transformation processes to meet specific CMDB requirements

  • Implement andleverageCI/CD pipeline tools like GitLab for automation and deployment

  • Monitor discovery health, performance metrics, and data quality

  • Troubleshoot discovery issues and implement solutions to ensure complete visibility

  • Document all discovery configurations, integrations, and custom scripts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree inComputerScience, Information Technology, or related field

  • 10+ yearsof experience working in DevOps, system administration, or similar IT roles

  • 3+ yearsof experience usingBMC Helix Discovery (formerly ADDM) implementation and management

  • Strong knowledge of credential management and security practices for discovery tools

  • Experiencecreating and customizing TKU patterns

  • Ability to write scripts usingTPL(Tideway Pattern Language),Python, JavaScript,orPowerShell

  • Knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools, particularly GitLab

  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure components including servers, network devices, and applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ITILbestpractices and principles

  • BMC Certified Professional for Discovery

  • Experience working with government cloud environments (AWS GovCloudorAzure Government)

  • Experienceconnectingdiscovery datatoServiceNow CMDB

  • Experience with application dependency mapping and service modeling

  • ServiceNow CMDB certification

  • Familiarity with container tools likeDocker andKubernetes

  • The hiring range is$133,100$182,000annually.

  • For candidateslocatednear other National IT locations,outsideofRichmond, VA, thelistedhiringand salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.

  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
