Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and technically strong DevOps Engineer - (Azure & Mainframe) who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys leading initiatives that drive operational excellence. In this role, you will work hands-on with modern infrastructure, deployment automation, and enterprise DevOps tooling while acting as a key liaison between development, operations, support, and infrastructure teams.

This is a 5-month contract, hybrid position with the potential for extension. The successful candidate is expected to work from our Toronto office three days per week

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

• Design, build, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Develop automation solutions leveraging TypeScript
• Implement and manage enterprise deployment orchestration using Octopus Deploy
• Design and support automated release management processes across multiple environments
• Integrate DevOps workflows with enterprise and legacy systems, including mainframe environments and tools
• Implement best practices for workflow automation, release governance, and pipeline optimization
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency

Delivery & Execution

• Deliver high-quality solutions within defined timelines
• Manage and execute complex technical implementations and release cycles
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline, deployment, integration, and environment-related issues
• Support hybrid cloud and enterprise infrastructure deployments

Customer Experience

• Provide a high-touch (“white-glove”) service experience to internal stakeholders.
• Anticipate operational challenges and proactively implement solutions
• Ensure a seamless, end-to-end deployment and support experience

Communication

• Communicate progress, updates, and timelines clearly and consistently
• Identify and escalate blockers, risks, and dependencies in a timely manner
• Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across teams

Collaboration & Ownership

• Partner closely with development, QA, infrastructure, support, and operations teams
• Take full ownership of deliverables and drive solutions through to completion
• Work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment

Required Skills & Experiences

• 5 years of strong experience with Azure DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure
• Hands-on expertise with GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipeline development, and release automation
• Strong experience with Octopus Deploy, including deployment process design, lifecycle management, and environment orchestration
• Proficiency in TypeScript
• Experience integrating DevOps processes with mainframe tools and enterprise systems
• Familiarity with enterprise release management and deployment governance
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools in Azure environments
• Experience working in large enterprises or regulated environments
