Financial Markets Transaction Reporting
About the role
ING is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience to play a key role in the Financial Markets Transaction Reporting platform. In this role, you will not only support and operate critical systems, but also manage improvements in platform stability, automation, observability, and DevOps maturity
You will work in a highly regulated, business‑critical domain, ensuring that transaction reporting platforms remain reliable, scalable, and compliant. As a senior engineer, you are expected to take end‑to‑end ownership, mentor team members, and actively shape how DevOps is practiced within the team.
The context
ING must comply with multiple global regulatory frameworks, including:
• MiFID II / MiFIR – Markets in Financial Instruments Directive
• EMIR – European Market Infrastructure Regulation
• SFTR – Securities Financing Transactions Regulation
Within Transaction Reporting, we are responsible for collecting, enriching, validating, and submitting trade data to external Global Trade Repositories All reports must be complete, accurate, and delivered on time, as they directly support regulatory obligations.
You will work with a modern, hybrid application landscape, consisting of:
• In‑house developed microservices
• Vendor‑managed SaaS solutions
• Cloud‑native, containerized platforms
What you will do
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you are responsible for platform reliability, operational excellence, and DevOps evolution
Platform Ownership & Operations
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of production and non‑production platforms
• Provide expert‑level application and platform support
• Lead platform lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, and decommissioning
• Act as a senior escalation point for incidents and complex operational issues
• Collaborate with SaaS vendors to ensure stable and predictable operations
• Participate in on‑call/standby rotations and lead planned changes outside office hours when required
DevOps Engineering & Automation
• Design and improve automation across deployment, configuration, and operations
• Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines
• Drive improvements in monitoring, alerting, and observability
• Improve platform resilience, scalability, and availability
• Reduce operational toil through smart engineering choices

We expect that you have
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
• Strong experience supporting business‑critical platforms
• Hands‑on expertise with:
• Linux and/or Windows Server
• Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• High standards for documentation, reliability, and operational quality
• A mindset focused on automation, resilience, and continuous improvement
It would be nice if you have
• Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Git and Azure DevOps
• Experience designing or improving observability solutions (metrics, logs, alerts)
• Experience working in hybrid landscapes (in‑house and SaaS platforms)
• Familiarity with financial markets, transaction reporting, or regulatory systems
• Experience influencing DevOps standards beyond a single team
