Job Description

At AsureQuality, we’re helping Aotearoa thrive by delivering trusted food assurance services that make a real difference. Behind the scenes, our modern cloud platforms power innovation across the business - and we’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us keep evolving.

Bring your curiosity, creativity, and cloud expertise to one of New Zealand’s most forward-thinking tech environments.

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that designs, builds, and maintains AsureQuality’s multi-cloud infrastructure. You’ll work across AWS, Azure, and modern automation tools to support our platform modernisation journey, from deploying using infrastructure as code to enabling other teams to move faster and smarter.

This is not a “rinse and repeat” role. You’ll have the freedom to think differently, experiment with new ideas, and bring creativity to how we automate, secure, and scale our systems. If you’re motivated by solving complex problems, learning fast, and helping others work smarter through technology, you’ll thrive here.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, optimise, and monitor cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, HashiCorp tooling, Datadog).
  • Develop and automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, GitHub Actions, Ansible).
  • Support and modernise cloud-based applications and services.
  • Ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and highly available.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, AI, and API engineers to enable automation and innovation across teams.
  • Keep learning - staying ahead of rapidly changing tech and best practices.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you will:

  • Get up to speed with AsureQuality’s systems and processes.
  • Contribute to key cloud modernisation projects.
  • Bring fresh thinking and automation ideas to improve how we work.
  • Build trusted relationships across the DevOps and wider IT teams.

Qualifications

You’re technically sound, but also curious, creative, and collaborative. You enjoy solving problems, sharing ideas, and finding better ways to do things.

You’ll bring:

  • 1-2+ years’ experience in a Cloud or DevOps environment.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Skills in Terraform, GitHub Actions, Ansible, Bash or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD concepts.
  • A security and automation mindset.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or vendor certification (AWS, Azure, or HashiCorp).

Additional Information

Key Benefits:

You’ll join a modern tech environment that’s already ahead of the curve - many large organisations aren’t yet where we are in our cloud journey. You’ll have space to innovate, learn, and grow, with pathways into architecture or lead roles as your career develops.

We offer:

  • Flexible working, with at least two days per week in the Burnside, Christchurch office.
  • A 9-day fortnight option.
  • A supportive, collaborative team culture that values curiosity, learning, and doing mahi that matters.
