DevOps Engineer - China Operations
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to own and operate the Chinese version of our software infrastructure. You will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and scaling our services within AWS China regions while ensuring compliance with local regulations and data sovereignty requirements.
Location & Eligibility
Must be eligible to work in mainland China (Chinese citizenship strongly preferred due to data access requirements)
Based in China with access to AWS China regions (cn-north-1, cn-northwest-1)
Ability to obtain and manage ICP licensing and related regulatory compliance
Technical Requirements
Infrastructure as Code (Required)
Strong experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript)
Familiarity with multi-partition CDK deployments (aws and aws-cn partitions)
AWS China Experience (Required)
Hands-on experience operating workloads in AWS China regions
Understanding of AWS China's isolated network architecture and service differences
Experience with:
ECS container orchestration
DynamoDB (auto-scaling, GSI, streams, PITR)
Kinesis/Kinesis Firehose for real-time data streaming
S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS, EventBridge
Route 53, CloudFront, API Gateway
RDS Aurora PostgreSQL (serverless)
IAM, Secrets Manager, VPC networking
Programming Languages (Required)
C#/.NET (primary - 55+ services including core APIs, workers, and shared libraries)
Familiarity with .NET 6.0+
TypeScript/Node.js (secondary - APIs and tooling)
Python (ML/data processing - algos, sensor normalization)
Ability to read and troubleshoot application code across all three languages
Containerization & CI/CD
Docker and container orchestration (ECS)
Codefresh or equivalent CI/CD platforms
Experience managing 50+ microservices
Observability
Datadog APM and logging (dd-trace)
CloudWatch metrics and alarms
OpenTelemetry instrumentation
Elasticsearch/OpenSearch for log aggregation
Responsibilities
Deploy and maintain our service fleet in AWS China regions
Adapt existing CDK infrastructure for China-specific requirements
Ensure data residency compliance and regulatory adherence
Manage cross-region data synchronization where permitted
Collaborate with US-based engineering teams on infrastructure changes
Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response for China operations
Optimize costs and performance for China-specific workloads
Handle ICP licensing and related compliance requirements
Mandarin and English proficiency for cross-team collaboration
Nice to Have
Experience with LaunchDarkly feature flag management
Knowledge of ML/AI infrastructure (TensorFlow serving)
Experience with IoT device telemetry at scale
