HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist
In this role, you will:
- Engineer and operate end-to-end data pipelines that pull, normalize, and validate platform signals from enterprise sources (for example telemetry, vulnerability, patching, change, and service inventory systems).
- Build service-level scorecards and portfolio views that combine application, infrastructure, and data quality indicators into clear business-facing metrics and trends.
- Automate recurring control processes using Python and API integrations, including evidence collection, exception tracking, and quality gates before reporting outputs are published.
- Maintain and improve runbook-as-code and operational playbooks for high-frequency incident and control scenarios, with clear ownership, approvals, and rollback paths.
- Translate complex technical findings into executive-ready outputs: concise narratives, structured action registers, and publication-ready content for stakeholder channels.
- Partner with application owners, infrastructure teams, and data consumers to triage issues, prioritize remediation, and ensure service reliability outcomes are measurable.
- Apply AI tools such as GitHub Copilot responsibly to accelerate development, troubleshooting, and documentation while enforcing validation, security, and compliance checks.
- Embed Risk and Controls thinking in day-to-day engineering by ensuring traceability, auditability, and policy alignment across workflows, automations, and reporting.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in platform engineering, production support, or technical operations with strong hands-on delivery across applications, infrastructure, and data domains.
- Strong Python and scripting capability for automation, data processing, API orchestration, and production tooling.
- Proven knowledge of Risk and Controls frameworks, including governance standards, control evidence, audit readiness, approvals, and traceable execution.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure supporting business services, including compute, networking, storage, identity/access dependencies, and hosting patterns.
- Practical understanding of application architecture and data flows, including how upstream/downstream dependencies affect service resilience and control outcomes.
- Experience building operational dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting artifacts that convert technical telemetry into clear decisions and prioritized actions.
- Practical experience with ITSM, incident, change, and service management workflows, with the ability to connect engineering automation to governance processes.
- Active usage of AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity, with disciplined validation, secure usage, and human accountability for outputs.
You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
