Job Description

The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.

About the Department

The Technology Development group is an integral organization of Allegro that includes Device Development, Foundry Operations, Modeling, ESD/EMC, and Design Enablement teams. The group facilitates all semiconductor devices and design automation research and development programs from concept through maturity. We ensure that the technology roadmap is aligned with the product roadmap and work across organizations. We manage partnerships with external foundries and suppliers to deliver cutting-edge semiconductor devices and design automation tools to support the product roadmap.

The Opportunity

Join the heart of Allegro’s R&D efforts as a Device Modeling Technician. In this role, you will be the primary operator of our advanced characterization equipment, providing the critical data that forms the foundation of Allegro’s high-performance BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) technologies. Reporting to the Senior Device Modeling Manager, you will collaborate with the Wafer Technology team to ensure our device models are accurate, reliable, and capable of driving "Innovation with Purpose" for our global design community.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct hands-on evaluation and characterization of semiconductor components (transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors) at both the package and wafer levels.
  • Define and refine measurement setups to capture high-fidelity data.
  • Run measurements, collect raw results, and perform data post-processing and interpretation to identify key trends.
  • Drive operational excellence by scripting test systems (using Python) to automate setups and improve laboratory throughput.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive documentation of results and present intermediate findings to peer engineering teams.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, manage calibration schedules, and troubleshoot measurement hardware or software issues.
  • Coordinate wafer handling, shipments, and participate in lab audits to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

What You Will Need

  • A Technician degree or current enrollment in Electronic Engineering studies.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in a laboratory or semiconductor environment.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Strong familiarity with basic laboratory instrumentation (DMM, oscilloscopes, signal generators).
  • Ability to decipher schematics, drawings, and technical diagrams.
  • Advanced professional proficiency in English (verbal and written) to support global collaboration.
  • A "One Allegro" collaborator who is equally comfortable working independently or as part of a high-energy R&D team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized device characterization tools (SMUs, LCR meters, and Probe Stations).
  • Familiarity with scientific Python libraries (NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, Jupyter, SciPy).
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor device physics and BCD fabrication.
