Your Impact

  • Lead EHS assurance, governance and capability across AirTrunk’s Sydney Development portfolio, supporting major data centre construction and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Partner closely with General Contractors, Delivery Partners, Consultants, Customers, Development Project Teams and EHS Project Managers to uphold AirTrunk’s EHS standards and customer expectations.
  • Mentor and support a team of EHS Project Managers while driving continuous improvement, strategic oversight and industry-leading safety outcomes.

As Development EHS Lead based in Sydney, NSW, you will report to the Regional Development Safety Manager for Australia and work closely with General Contractors, Delivery Partners, Consultants, Customers, Development Project Teams and EHS Project Managers, making your mark in a number of ways.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and promote AirTrunk’s safety culture across active development projects and customer environments.
  • Provide EHS leadership, coaching and strategic guidance to EHS Project Managers embedded within Development Project Teams.
  • Conduct assurance activities across high-risk construction work, including high-risk activity planning workshops and implementation of critical Global Minimum Standards.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and improve EHS assurance schedules, audits and inspections to drive continuous improvement and safe working environments.
  • Monitor General Contractor compliance with AirTrunk EHS standards, preliminary specifications, governance frameworks and Australian WHS legislative requirements.
  • Review audit findings, verify corrective and preventative actions and escalate significant EHS risks, recurring non-conformances or governance concerns.
  • Oversee incident investigations, assess the quality of root cause analysis and corrective actions and ensure lessons learned are shared across projects.
  • Review and validate lead and lag indicators, Power BI dashboards and weekly/monthly EHS reporting for leadership and customer stakeholders.
  • Build strong internal and external working relationships, lead EHS discussions in project forums, participate in customer site walks and influence project teams to proactively manage risk.
  • Lead, support and mentor a team of EHS Project Managers, uplifting consistency in assurance practices, reporting standards and field engagement across Sydney projects.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Construction EHS roles within major projects environments, with strong experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-risk construction work assurance, governance, critical risk management and contractor management.
  • Advanced understanding of Australian WHS legislation, internal governance frameworks and risk management principles.
  • Experience conducting internal and external EHS audits and assurance activities, reviewing incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across all organisational levels, supported by exceptional written communication, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Experience using EHS reporting systems and data analytics platforms such as Power BI.
  • Minimum Diploma in Work Health & Safety or equivalent qualification, plus a current New South Wales Driver’s Licence and own reliable vehicle.
  • Previous data centre, major project or hyperscale construction experience is highly regarded, as is owner-side/client-side EHS assurance experience.
  • Exposure to commissioning, energisation, operational readiness, Safety in Design reviews, ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training and ISO aligned management systems would be advantageous.
