Job Description

The Development Manager leads annual fundraising, donor stewardship, and community relationship-building efforts that strengthen philanthropic support for Encompass. Working closely with the Director of Community Impact, this position helps build mid-level donor relationships, develops future donor pipelines, manages engagement initiatives and events, plans fundraising events and creates meaningful opportunities for supporters to connect with the mission and impact of Encompass.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Implement fundraising strategies and annual development plans that support organizational goals.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, sponsors, corporate partners, and community supporters to increase engagement, retention, and philanthropic support.
  3. Manage annual giving campaigns, fundraising appeals, donor engagement initiatives, and a portfolio of individual donors and prospects.
  4. Identify, qualify and develop prospective donors to strengthen the organization's future gift pipeline.
  5. Lead corporate engagement efforts, including volunteer partnerships, sponsorship relationships, employee engagement opportunities, and donor pipeline development.
  6. Develop and implement creative donor stewardship, recognition, and engagement strategies that celebrate generosity, strengthen donor retention, and inspire long-term philanthropic support.
  7. Lead the planning, promotion, and execution of key fundraising and engagement events, including the Annual Celebration, President's Luncheon, Big Event for Kids, and other donor-focused experiences.
  8. Support and expand the grant-seeking efforts through research, identifying new funding opportunities, assisting with proposal development and applications and grant reporting in coordination with the Director of Community Impact.
  9. Collaborate with agency leadership and program staff to identify and share stories that demonstrate the impact of donor investment and advance fundraising objectives.
  10. Maintain donor information and reports and engagement data to support fundraising and donor engagement activities.
  11. Support board and foundation board engagement, fundraising activities, and donor relationship-building efforts.
  12. Represent Encompass at community events and activities while promoting the organization's mission, programs, and impact.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field required.
  • Three to five years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, development, community engagement, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated success managing fundraising campaigns, annual giving programs, donor stewardship initiatives, or sponsorship programs preferred.
  • Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners preferred.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization and utilizing donor management software preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong relationship-building, donor stewardship, and communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire supporters.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, campaigns, and deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data, monitor performance metrics, and identify opportunities to increase donor engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, volunteers, donors, board members, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and donor management, fundraising, or CRM software.
  • Demonstrates The Encompass Way values and a commitment to the mission, vision, and culture of Encompass.
