Job Description

The Development Intern will receive a thorough understanding of the development and fundraising processes, including the identification, qualification, cultivation and stewardship of funders, donor research, reporting, and donor acknowledgment.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Conduct targeted research to identify at least 20 new prospective foundation donors aligned with our mission and funding priorities
  • Identify and present a minimum of 10 new, actionable grant opportunities for organizational pursuit
  • Research meaningful profile data for existing donors (e.g., funding priorities, key contacts, geographic focus, and re: grants - past giving cycles)
  • Develop concise donor briefs and opportunity summaries to support cultivation and proposal development
  • Support the development team with research insights to inform cultivation
  • Draft Development emails for recurring donation cancellations
  • Working in tandem with Communications, develop marketing and social media strategies and emails to attract donors
  • Prepare workplace giving reports for entry
  • Prospect donor research
  • Help with donor acknowledgment process and Liberty Circle stewardship mailings
  • Support during development-led events
  • Provide additional support to development team members when needed and appropriate

Performance Metrics

  • 20+ qualified new foundation prospects added to the pipeline
  • 10+ vetted grant opportunities ready for consideration or submission
  • Improved completeness and usability of donor database records (measured by updated profiles and added strategic data points)
  • Timely delivery of research summaries and donor briefs to support active fundraising efforts

*Spring and summer are high-volume periods for grant opportunities. This role would provide critical capacity to ensure we are proactively identifying and pursuing funding while strengthening our long-term donor strategy and donor data base in other ways.

Qualifications:

  • College student or fresh graduate, interested in development, fundraising, events, or reproductive health, rights, and justice
  • Knowledge of and a strong commitment to reproductive health and rights, as well as PPMW’s mission and goals
  • Able to commit a minimum of 15-20 hours per week (during PPMW’s business hours)
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational skills
  • Experience with fundraising, events, or conducting research is a plus
