We are hiring for an Aerodynamics Development Engineer who will be based in our Brno facility. The Aerodynamics Development Engineer is part of the commercial vehicle (CV) Aerodynamics team and linked to the Wheels and Aerodynamics (W&A) Center of Excellence. This position requires a solid background in turbomachine aerodynamics and mechanical engineering, either from work experience or from education. It also requires a high level of autonomy and problem-solving capability to define technical planning to resolve complex aerodynamic and mechanical problem statements.
Responsibilities:
Design, test and qualify the next generation of compressor and turbine aerodynamics for integration in the CV portfolio, using state-of-the-art analytical (CFD/FEA) and experimental (Test Rigs) tools. This is based on the development plan established together with the CV Aerodynamics Manager.
Close collaboration with the internal engineering customer teams to design robust compressor and turbine stages that will meet the performance, durability, packaging, noise and cost constraints, and be successfully integrated into customer turbocharger product.
Support the resolution of technical problems and performance challenges by providing aerodynamics and mechanical engineering support to other internal teams.
Collaborate with other team members of the W&A organization to increase innovation while deploying continuous improvement to the team tools and processes.
Your profile:
Masters degree or higher in the field of Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in turbomachinery design and optimization (compressor and/or turbine design for performance, life, cost, noise).
Proficiency with High fidelity CFD turbomachine simulation (e.g. Ansys Fluent).
Proven experience in 3D design packages (CATIA, Onshape, Solidworks), programming (Matlab or python), and experimental turbomachinery testing (rig concepts, data analysis and post-processing).
Knowledge of turbocharger or industrial compressor and expander designs (Aerodynamics and/or mechanical).
Strong drive to deliver, ability to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.
We offer:
Chance to pioneer automotive technology
Working on interesting engineering challenges
Freedom to implement creative solutions
Professional growth opportunities
Skillful, supportive team
