Development Engineer: Systems

Cape Town Heldeberg

R541000 - R580000 Per annum

A company specializing in delivering complete and comprehensive certification-ready Automation, Simulation, Communication, and Ground Control Solutions seeks a Development Engineer, with a passion for airborne system-level (e.g. ISR aircraft, UAS, and OPS) design and problem-solving. Successful candidates will form part of the company's dynamic System Engineering team.

1. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The scope of work includes (but is not limited to) the following:

a.Collaborate with system engineers to create system-level requirements, designs, implementations, and accompanying documentation;

b.Collaborate with system engineers to devise system-level test cases, and procedures, and oversee their execution and reporting;

c.Create tools to enhance the system engineering processes;

d.Engage with COTS suppliers, explore system design and architecture using COTS products, evaluate and prototype them;

e.Possibility of on-site involvement in design, verification, and support, including interactions with clients and integrators;

f.Manage a functional system integration facility for comprehensive system-level integration and testing;

g.Play a major role in the generation of outputs for projects, including design, testing, documentation, production and verification artifacts;

h.Implementation of system engineering processes, plans, and policies as applicable to a specific project; and

i.Perform minor support roles within the company, as required.

2. REQUIREMENTS:

2.1. Minimum Qualifications:

a. Bachelor's Degree in Electronic, Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering (BSc Eng/BEng or equivalent).

2.2. Required Skills and Experience:

a. 2-5 years of relevant industry or postgraduate experience;

b. Excellent problem-solving skills;

c. Excellent interpersonal skills, both inside and outside the organization; and

d. Logical thinker.

2.3. Recommended Skills and Experience:

a. Masters Degree in Mechatronic / Mechanical or Electronic Engineering (MSc Eng. / MEng).
