Job Description

Development Coordinator

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill this part-time Development Coordinator role with our Development and Communications department.

The Development Coordinator is a vital member of the Development and Communications team, helping fuel TOA’s mission of building better lives and stronger communities across Maine through donor stewardship, communications, and event support. In this role, you will help raise and manage the resources that power life-changing programs and amplify the impact TOA has on more than 24,000 Mainers each year.

This role manages the donor database and development systems, ensures accurate gift processing and financial reconciliation, and supports strategic donor cultivation through portfolio management and reporting. The coordinator drafts donor correspondence and acknowledgments, collaborates on annual appeals and other campaigns, and helps execute fundraising events from registration through follow-up.

The Development Coordinator works closely with the VP of Development and Communications to help set departmental goals and strategy.

Schedule Part-time, 20 hours per week

Location office location is based in South Portland, with the opportunity for some remote work.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with data entry required; proficiency in Raiser’s Edge (or similar database) preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential to be effective in this position.
  • Great analytical skills and results-oriented.
  • Attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Prior experience with nonprofit development/fundraising procedures preferred.
  • Comfort working with boards and high-touch donors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor records and information is absolutely required.
  • Strong organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks and work as part of a team as well as experience organizing fund raising events preferred.
  • Excellent writing, planning, organizational and public speaking skills preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency is a requirement. Ability to conduct online research necessary. Proficiency with data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel; facility with database management preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.
