Your mission

We are looking for  Development Chapter Lead, to join our team based in Budapest. 
You will play a key role in building engineering excellence through both people and practices You will lead and develop high-performing engineers while ensuring  consistent, scalable, and modern development standards across teams.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining people management (30%), technical contribution (20%), and capability ownership (50%) to support Telio’s ongoing engineering transformation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead & Develop People
  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and team composition
  • Own performance management and career development
  • Coach engineers toward senior and staff-level impact
  • Foster a strong, ownership-driven engineering culture
Own Development Capability
  • Define and evolve development practices across teams
  • Drive consistency in code quality and engineering workflows
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Identify skill gaps and lead upskilling initiatives
Ensure Engineering Standards
  • Drive adoption of architecture principles (Architecture Chapter)
  • Ensure alignment with platform standards and CI/CD practices
  • Promote strong testing strategies in collaboration with QA
  • Act as a quality enforcement layer through coaching and reviews
Collaborate Across Chapters
  • Work closely with Architecture, Platform Engineering, and QA
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives (e.g., Golden Paths)
  • Ensure alignment and consistency across teams
Hands-on Technical Contribution
  • Support teams with complex development challenges
  • Participate in code reviews and key technical decisions
  • Lead by example in engineering excellence
Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Improve developer experience with Platform Engineering
  • Identify and resolve systemic productivity challenges
  • Support adoption of modern engineering practices
Enable AI-Driven Engineering
  • Promote AI-assisted development (e.g., copilots, LLMs)
  • Encourage experimentation with modern tooling
  • Help embed AI into everyday engineering workflows

  Required Qualifications & Experience

- 5+ years in software engineering
- Proven experience managing and developing engineers
- Strong coaching and mentoring mindset
- Strong backend experience (ideally C# / .NET)
- Experience with distributed APIs
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with cloud environments and Kubernetes
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- English proficiency (written and spoken)
