
DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE INTERNSHIP AT KST

The Development Associate Intern role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, with exposure to donor stewardship, donor data management, communications, and funding research This is an opportunity to build practical skills in relationship-based fundraising while contributing to real-time organizational priorities.
The impact of your work directly supports KST’s ability to serve nearly 20,000 patrons annually, create opportunities for more than 200 local and national artists, and incubate emerging organizations led by people of color. Through this role, you will contribute to meaningful work in the arts while developing skills that translate across nonprofit and cultural sectors.

This is an in-person position based at KST’s Alloy Studios in East Liberty. Typical office hours are weekdays between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. We will work collaboratively to establish a consistent weekly schedule that aligns with the student’s academic requirements and availability. Typical internship commitments range from approximately 12–35 hours per week depending on program requirements or funding structures.

To enter the theater is to be in the presence of two creative and passionate spirits, who with their talent, tenacity, and love of their craft provide inspiration for us today: famed dancer and Hollywood movie legend Gene Kelly, born and raised in East Liberty and Homewood-bred jazz composer Billy Strayhorn. Their spirits abound in the young East End artists of today.
The Kelly Strayhorn Theater is an intimate, professionally-equipped, 350-seat multiple-use performance venue. With a commitment to support the burgeoning arts community in the city of Pittsburgh, the theater serves as an ideal place for emerging local artists, regional artists and arts organizations to take risks and present new work.
