Job Description

Yeshiva University seeks an energetic and detail-oriented emerging professional to join our Institutional Advancement team as a Development Associate, Alumni and Annual Giving. This entry-level position provides essential support to the alumni and annual fund fundraising efforts — including direct donor engagement, mail and digital campaigns, data management, and event coordination.

The Development Associate will play an active role in initiating and building relationships with lower-level and emerging donors, helping to strengthen the pipeline for future major gift support. This includes participating in in-person meetings, events, and outreach efforts designed to deepen donor connection and philanthropic commitment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to launch a career in higher education fundraising, with hands-on exposure to donor cultivation and frontline engagement in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Annual Fund Campaign Support: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of annual fund solicitation campaigns, including direct mail appeals, email campaigns, phonathon programs, digital giving initiatives, and personalized outreach strategies that incorporate in-person engagement.
  • Donor Relationship Building: Begin developing and managing relationships with lower-level donors through phone, email, and potential in-person interactions
  • Donor Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor database
  • Alumni Engagement for Fundraising: Support alumni outreach efforts aimed at increasing donor participation and strengthening the pipeline of annual fund contributors, including class-based and affinity-based giving programs, with increased focus on moving donors from digital engagement to personal interaction
  • Event Support: Provide logistical and administrative support for fundraising events, donor cultivation activities, and alumni engagement programs
  • Actively engage with attendees during events to build relationships and identify potential donors for follow-up
  • Assist in post-event outreach to continue cultivation
  • Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to the alumni and annual fund team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, managing correspondence, and other duties as assigned
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues across Institutional Advancement — including major gifts, stewardship, events, and communications — to advance departmental fundraising goals

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with donor databases a plus
  • Commitment to professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for learning and growing in the field of development
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort level engaging with donors in face-to-face settings
  • Interest in building a career in frontline fundraising and donor relationship management

Salary Range:

$31.87 - $32.97 per hour
