In this role, you will develop Python microservices using FastAPI, work with PostgreSQL and analytics data stores, and support integrations with cloud infrastructure. You’ll contribute to services that power REST APIs and data processing systems, while gaining exposure to real time messaging, MQTT, and WITSML data exchange.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain RESTful API endpoints using FastAPI within existing backend
microservices, with guidance from senior engineers
• Support development of data models using SQLAlchemy, assist with Alembic database
migrations, and help optimize PostgreSQL queries
• Contribute to backend services that handle real-time and batch data processing
• Assist in working with analytics data stores alongside relational databases for
transactional data
• Support implementation of distributed task processing pipelines using caching and
message brokers
• Help implement authentication and authorization logic using JWT validation and access
control patterns
• Contribute to data ingestion and transformation services, including CSV parsing and
XML processing
• Write and maintain automated tests using pytest, with guidance on test structure and
best practices
• Containerize services using Docker and assist in maintaining development and CI/CD
workflows
• Integrate with cloud platform services for storage, logging, messaging, and secrets
management with team support
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards
• Track work and collaborate with the team using project management tools in an agile
environment
• Contribute to breaking down business requirements into clear development tasks and
user stories
• Participate in design discussions and collaborate with product owners and domain
experts to refine requirements
Required Qualifications
• 0–2 years of professional experience in backend development or relevant internship/
project experience
• Proficiency in Python (3.10+) and familiarity with modern Python development practices
• Experience with or strong familiarity with FastAPI, Flask, or a similar web framework
• Basic understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), SQL queries, and
ORM concepts
• Understanding of RESTful API fundamentals, including routing, request/response
handling, and error handling
• Familiarity with database migration tools (Alembic or similar)
• Working knowledge of Python async/await patterns
• Experience writing unit or integration tests (pytest or similar), with willingness to learn
best practices
• Familiarity with Docker for local development
• Basic understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
• Strong willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Familiarity with Redis, caching concepts, or message brokers
• Exposure to distributed systems or task queues
• Awareness of real-time communication technologies (WebSockets, Server-Sent Events)
• Exposure to data pipeline concepts such as ETL or event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with authentication concepts such as JWT
• Experience with code quality tools
• Exposure to observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)
