Developer III

The Developer III serves as a senior technical contributor across Guidewire applications, supporting end-to-end delivery of capabilities spanning policy lifecycle, billing operations, and claims processing. This individual works closely with architects, business analysts, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Development

  • Design, develop, and configure Guidewire applications using Gosu across UI, data model, configuration, rules engine, and integrations
  • Deliver end-to-end development across InsuranceSuite components (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter)
  • Implement and maintain business rules, workflows, rating logic, and system configurations
  • Develop and maintain plug-ins, batch jobs, messaging, and APIs
  • Build reusable components and standardized patterns to improve development efficiency

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Contribute to solution design by evaluating business requirements and recommending scalable technical approaches
  • Define and document high-level and detailed design for configurations, integrations, and custom components
  • Design integration patterns and data flows between core systems and external services
  • Ensure alignment with architecture standards, performance expectations, and security guidelines
  • Evaluate system impacts and ensure compatibility with existing architecture
  • Identify opportunities to standardize design patterns and improve maintainability

Integration & Architecture

  • Design and implement integrations using REST/SOAP, messaging, and middleware
  • Support connectivity between core platforms and third-party systems
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Collaboration

  • Partner with architects, business analysts, QA, and product owners
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards
  • Work across teams to ensure alignment between requirements, implementation, and standards

Delivery & Support

  • Support Agile delivery practices including sprint planning and estimation
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on build and release processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain technical documentation and design artifacts
  • Stay current with platform updates and industry trends
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and scalability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on Guidewire development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Gosu, Java, and Guidewire Studio
  • Experience working across core applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter)
  • Strong experience in configuration, rules, and integrations
  • Experience designing and implementing REST/SOAP services and integrations
  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance processes
  • Experience with Agile tools such as JIRA, Git, Jenkins

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Guidewire certifications (nice to have, not required)
  • Experience with cloud deployments (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with CI/CD and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with portals or platform extensions
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Property & Casualty insurance domain experience
