The SAP ABAP Developer is responsible for analyzing user requirements, procedures, and system challenges to automate business processes and enhance existing SAP solutions. This role provides technical expertise in system design, development methodologies, tools, and standards used across the IT and business landscape.

As a key member of the SAP Core Team, the developer will support the business community by delivering high-quality ABAP technical solutions for both new projects and production support, spanning all major SAP functional areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance ABAP programs including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows (RICEFW)
  • Build and support integrations using RFC, BAPI, IDoc, Proxies, and OData services
  • Implement enhancements using User Exits, Customer Exits, BAdIs, and Implicit/Explicit enhancements
  • Analyze business requirements and prepare Technical Design Specifications (TDS)
  • Provide effort estimates, impact analysis, technical solution options, and production support including incident analysis and root cause resolution
  • Perform unit testing and support SIT/UAT cycles
  • Ensure adherence to development standards, performance optimization, and secure coding practices
  • Conduct peer code reviews and ensure audit and security compliance
  • Manage transport requests and releases using Solution Manager
  • Collaborate closely with functional teams (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, QM, WM/EWM, etc.) to understand business requirements, translate them into technical designs, and deliver end-to-end SAP solutions
  • Coordinate with Basis and Security teams for roles, authorizations, and system changes
  • Support deployments, cutovers, and hyper care activities
  • Analyze system performance and resolve technical issues to ensure high availability and stable SAP operations
  • Manage and resolve incidents and service requests via the ticketing system and Solution Manager, including prioritization, tracking, and communication to the requestor (could be key-user, my team, other TMO groups)
  • Support and execute archiving in line with technical and business requirements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain web services, certificates, and RFC interfaces for secure and reliable system integration.
  • Support the planning, testing, and deployment of SAP support packages, including impact analysis and documentation.
  • Execute system copies and maintain test environments to support development, testing, and system readiness.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 6-9 years of strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP (ECC and S/4HANA)
  • Relevant technical certifications a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong expertise in one or more major development platforms (Java/.NET/Python/JavaScript)
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms and services (AWS/Azure)
  • Proficiency in database technologies and SQL
  • Experience with modern development frameworks and tools (React, Angular, Spring Boot)
  • Strong understanding of API design and microservices architecture
  • Expertise in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong ownership and delivery focus
  • Strong experience in RICEFW development
  • Experience with integration technologies (IDoc, RFC, BAPI, Web Services, OData)
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning skills
  • Experience guiding and supporting team members' professional development
  • Experience with version control systems and project management tools
  • Knowledge of software security best practices
  • Participation in on-call support rotation as needed
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives

  • ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, Fiori/UI5 basics
  • Exposure to S/4HANA simplifications and modern extensibility
