Full timeUnder general Supervision, is responsible for the custody of all inmates in the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center, maintaining their security during their time of incarceration and assuming responsibility for all their needs during detention while utilizing the principles of Direct Supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Custody and control of inmates
  • Security of facilities
  • Physical movement of inmates
  • All inmate records
  • Complete facility logs
  • Pull and search all inmates leaving the facility
  • Search inmate workers before housing
  • Search and locate all new intakes
  • Conduct shakedowns and inspections of cells
  • Seizes property found during cell inspection
  • Complete record of property accepted in and after incarceration
  • Enforce contraband control and inmate rules
  • Observe inmates and inmate workers for abnormal conditions and corrects situations immediately
  • Inspect facility and kitchen for cleanliness and take appropriate action to correct
  • Inspect facility and kitchen areas and report all maintenance problems and unsafe conditions
  • Inspect cleaning materials and supplies that enter pods
  • Assist nurse on pill runs
  • Pull and search inmates for sick calls, doctor visits, dental visits, church services, and OED classes
  • Check and search, if necessary, all visitors
  • Observe inmate visitation
  • Oversee inmate exercise
  • Observe commissary distribution
  • Feed inmates
  • Complete and issue property/money release authorizations
  • Distribute and collect inmate requests for legal materials, visitor cards, inmate worker status applications, incoming and outgoing mail, and library materials
  • Review, answer, and distribute inmate’s requests and grievances
  • Assign work to and supervise inmate workers
  • Ensure all inmates have routine access to showers
  • Distribute hygiene products, clean clothing, clean linens, and clean bedding to inmates
  • Report any criminal intelligence to supervisors
  • Safeguard keys
  • Directly oversee inmate workers as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to perform job duties while wearing gear weighing 10 pounds or more for extended periods of time.
