Job Description

The Detention Center Sergeant is responsible for supervising Detention Officers and coordinating daily operations within the detention facility to ensure the safety, security, and orderly management of inmates, staff, and the facility. The position assigns and monitors work, prepares daily duty rosters, coordinates overtime coverage to meet operational needs, and ensures officers have the resources and equipment necessary to perform their duties effectively. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and under general supervision, with regular review of work for compliance and effectiveness.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.

• Any combination of education and experience that meets the requirements for performing the essential functions of this job.

Licenses/Certifications/Other:

• Must possess a state driver’s license.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Must complete the Criminal Justice Academy course.

Compensation Minimum: $24.43
