Our General Services Department is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join our dynamic team at the Detention Center. This position offers a variety of daily responsibilities, making each day unique and providing opportunities to develop and apply a wide range of maintenance skills.
The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills who can adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. This mid-level position is well suited for individuals with a background in construction, building maintenance, or facility maintenance who enjoy hands-on work and take pride in keeping facilities safe and operational.
This is an essential position that requires participation in an on-call rotation and a commitment to supporting the critical operations of the Detention Center.
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing advanced level skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities.
Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in the aspect of trades, such as HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, or painting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 18 years of age or older.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Physical Requirements: Works in various environments which may include temperature variations. Position requires pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, squatting, and bending on a routine basis. May work in tight spaces occasionally and may include extended period of times in prone or non-standing/non-sitting position. May be required to lift objects of 20 pounds to 50 pounds on a routine basis; Up to 100 pounds occasionally.
