Who is New England Seafood International?
New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and which is owned by 26,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas.

Job Title: Despatch Picking Operative
Location: NESI - Grimsby
Reporting to: Despatch Supervisor
Responsible for:
Health and safety of yourself, colleagues, and anyone else on site. Maintaining food safety and quality standards through following procedure and reporting issues when seen. Efficient and effective completion of all despatch tasks conducted whilst on shift.
Job Purpose:

To ensure all finished goods cases are delivered on time and in full to customers by picking the correct SKUs to the correct depots as per process and picking sheets.

Key areas of activity that the operative needs to deliver are as follows: -
Safety
• Ensure you work within all health and safety laws, guidelines, procedures and training.
• Ensure good housekeeping of your area using ‘clean as you go’.
• Ensure hazards and near misses are reported immediately through the K2 reporting system or to your line manager.
• Ensure our product is food safe by conducting all required compliance checks and raising non-conformances when required – Product temperature checks.
• Ensure all paperwork completed is legible and organized ready to be audited.
Quality
• Ensure all cases picked are to the appropriate standard – Formed well, closed and no damage. Report to your supervisor if you find issues.
• Responsible for brand integrity by ensuring all checks are completed as per training.
Cost
• Ensure all work is completed as efficiently as possible to reduce the overall cost of production.
• Report any issues affecting production efficiency to your direct line manager.
Delivery
• Help to ensure 100% service on time and in full.
• Communicate with site security and wagon drivers to ensure that material is loaded as per load plans dictate.
• Liaising with factory operations teams with regards to product run completion times
People
• Ensure that you are aware of your working hours so that you do not breach WTD – +60 hours in 7 days, 11 hour rest period, 1 day off in 7 or 2 days off in 14.
• Helping to support new trainees by allowing them to shadow you and show them what to do.

Experience:

• Excellent level of spoken and written English and to be able to write legibly for audit purposes.
• Ability to check a lot of information accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent numeracy and planning skills
• P.C literate and capable of learning in house booking systems and procedures.
