We're seeking a Desktop Support Technician (Level 2) to join a growing IT team supporting over 1,000 users across a fast-paced retail organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who thrives in both help desk and hands-on desktop support environments.
As a Level 2 Desktop Support Technician, you'll serve as a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, providing technical support to corporate and retail users while acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
Provide advanced desktop and help desk support for hardware, software, and network-related issues
Troubleshoot and resolve Windows, macOS, Office 365, user account, and authentication issues
Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts within Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Okta, and related systems
Configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and assist users with account access issues
Install, image, deploy, and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, and peripheral devices
Support onboarding efforts including workstation setup, software installation, and new hire technology orientation
Monitor and maintain systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Work closely with Network Administrators to troubleshoot connectivity and outage-related issues
Travel to local retail store locations throughout the Durham/Carrboro area as needed (approximately 20%)
Participate in testing, configuration, and rollout of new technologies and IT initiatives
3-5 years of desktop support and help desk experience
Strong Windows 10/11 support experience
Active Directory administration
Office 365 support and troubleshooting
Password resets, account creation/deactivation, and user access management
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) support
Hardware imaging, deployment, and workstation setup
Experience supporting large user environments (1,000+ users preferred)
Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills
Basic networking knowledge (connectivity issues, modem/router reboots, link troubleshooting, etc.)
Ability to travel locally up to 20% of the time
Microsoft Intune administration or support experience
Microsoft Entra ID experience
Okta administration experience
Zendesk ticketing system experience
Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience
Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) tools
macOS support experience
Identity & Access Management (IAM) experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carrboro, NC.
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
