Our culture is grounded in our shared values: Safety, Family, Innovative, Inclusive, Accountable, and Courageous. Together, we are shaping a sustainable future and making net zero a reality.

The Structural Designer – Level II is responsible for independently developing and coordinating structural drawings and 3D models for large industrial gas turbine power projects. This role works closely with Structural Engineers and cross‑functional design teams to translate engineering intent into accurate, constructible designs using Tekla Structures and SmartPLANT 3D.

The position supports project execution, quality, and schedule objectives by delivering clear, coordinated models and drawings that meet project requirements and applicable codes and standards.

  • Generate structural drawings including general arrangements, steel framing layouts, connection and detailing drawings, and material take‑offs
  • Coordinate with piping, equipment, electrical, and civil teams to resolve clashes and ensure constructability, access, and proper clearances
  • Support module‑based design considerations including transport, lifting, and erection
  • Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews and support clash detection and resolution
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards (AISC, AWS, IBC)
  • Maintain accurate model data and incorporate engineering changes in a timely manner
  • Support fabrication and construction needs by providing clear, accurate, and constructible models and drawings
  • Deliver design outputs in accordance with project schedules and milestones

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support continuous improvement of structural modeling workflows, Tekla templates, and SmartPLANT 3D integration
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of structural modeling standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with global and regional engineering teams, including external partners and vendors
  • Protect confidential and proprietary company information
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced project environment

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Structural Design, or a related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a Structural Designer or Drafter supporting industrial or power plant projects
  • Demonstrated experience supporting gas turbine, power plant, or heavy industrial projects
  • Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures for structural steel modeling and detailing
  • Working experience with SmartPLANT 3D for multi‑discipline plant coordination
  • Solid understanding of industrial structural steel systems, equipment support framing, module framing, and constructability
  • Familiarity with structural and industrial standards including AISC, AWS, IBC, and project‑specific requirements
  • Ability to interpret engineering calculations, design criteria, and vendor documentation
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Regularly required to stand and walk. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Noise levels may be moderate to loud in certain work environments, and hearing protection may be required in some areas.

Why Should You Apply?

  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision & 401K Matching)
  • Opportunities to work on large‑scale industrial and power generation projects
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented work environment
  • Commitment to quality products and services
