Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a  regular, full-time Designer, Quality Management Processesto join our dynamic Quality Management System team.  This role is critical in ensuring that the quality management system is effective, efficient and meets industry best practices and is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.

Under the direction of the manager, quality management processes, the designer is responsible for the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of quality management system processes.


Formula for Success

  • Collaborates with cross-functional experts and stakeholders to design, test, and implement integrated, regulatory-compliant quality management systems and automated processes, supported by clear documentation and targeted training.

  • Acts as a quality management subject matter expert by providing technical support, clarifying complex processes for the organization, and contributing to the development of specialized educational materials.

  • Drives the continuous improvement and maturation of the Quality Management System by analyzing KPIs, identifying performance gaps, and implementing standardized, regulatory-compliant solutions to optimize system efficiency.

  • Upholds organizational mission and values by championing a "safety-first" culture, fostering knowledge-sharing and engagement, and proactively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement and change.

  • Demonstrates operational flexibility and professional integrity by executing additional duties as required while maintaining strict adherence to all organizational policies and procedures.


Desired Education & Skills

  • University Degree in Engineering or Life Sciences or in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Training in Quality Management System (ISO or others) will be an asset.
  • ASQ certification is considered an asset.
  • Ten years of experience within a manufacturing (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biologics or related) environment with at least 5 years of quality process management, design and/or development.
  • Proven track record of thriving in high-pressure, fast-paced environments by effectively navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities to meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience in workflow process modelling and process improvement methodologies.
  • Proven expertise in process analysis and design.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relations and liaise effectively with various business groups

What You Can Expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location at least 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours a day.
  • Travel may be required to attend meetings, workshops and events etc.
