Job Description
The Designer is responsible for creating innovative graphic solutions for a variety of projects across multiple platforms to support the communications and marketing function while ensuring brand standards are met. This position has a strong focus on social asset creation, production and support.
Note: There is one position available and the position will be filled at one of four job grade levels: Designer I, job grade 6; Designer II, job grade 7, Designer III, job grade 8; or Senior Designer, job grade 9. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Hiring Salary Range: $98,000-$124,000
Designer III
Hiring Salary Range: $88,000-$111,000
Designer II
Hiring Salary Range: $80,000-$99,000
Designer I
Hiring Salary Range: $72,000-$88,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
Responsible for assisting with graphic design solutions activities including the following:
- Conceptual Design: Ability to visually articulate complex ideas across various platforms and mediums, and to create simple solutions for complex industry-related requests.
- Production Work Perform design revisions, print production and delivery of final files under the direction of the Creative Director.
- Collateral Design: Create designs for all collateral materials, including print, social media, promotional giveaways and event signage.
- Print Production: Under the direction of the Creative Director, communicate effectively with printing services vendors, including identifying and ensuring the use of appropriate and various printing processes.
- Project Management: Complete projects from start to finish and effectively meet deadlines.
- Enterprise Design Execution Develop and implement cohesive graphic solutions that align with enterprise-wide branding and communication strategies.
- Team Collaboration Actively contribute to team initiatives by supporting creative strategies, goals, and objectives through thoughtful design execution.
- Quality Assurance Maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency across all design deliverables, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and project requirements.
- Industry Awareness Stay informed on emerging design trends, technologies, and best practices within the corporate communications and marketing creative landscape.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to functional area.
Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Software requirements: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Familiarity and willingness to work in Canva.
- Knowledge of printing processes, methods and techniques.
- Must possess exceptional attention to detail, effective verbal communication skills and professional presence.
- Must possess the ability to creatively problem solve while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
- Experience in designing for social media, event signage and materials, branded giveaways, and publication design.
- Experience with Workfront.
Other:
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including overnight travel.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting integrated campaigns across print, digital, and social media platforms.
- Ability to balance creativity with adherence to established brand guidelines and project requirements.
- Familiarity with motion graphics, basic video editing, or animation tools (e.g., After Effects, Canva animation, or similar).
- Demonstrated initiative in learning new design tools, creative techniques, or emerging visual trends to enhance team capabilities.
- Photography experience desired.
