QLD - Fortitude Valley - KingsgateThe Designer – Connectivity Projects role within the Network Infrastructure Telecommunications Business Unit will provide hands on design interactions, junior technical input and quality assurance across all Connectivity Projects design activities nationally. This role is responsible for ensuring that design solutions are implemented with program objectives, technical standards, and regulatory requirements. The Designer is the hands-on role in providing document updates, quality assurance activities, driving continuous improvement, and supporting design teams with specialist knowledge to enable timely and cost-effective deployment of Long Haul and Inter City Fibre infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide technical input on Long Haul and ICF network design principles, standards, and methodologies across the Connectivity Projects delivery program.
● Deliver design interactions that are technically sound, compliant with national standards, and aligned with program objectives.
● Undertake quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across national design outputs.
● Work with the Senior Designer for design-related issues nationally.
● Contribute to the development and refinement of national design standards, manuals, and tools.
● Identify opportunities for innovation or process improvement to enhance design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
● Provide mentoring and technical coaching to design teams.
Support governance forums with technical input and decision-making material.
Experience required
Proven experience in the design and delivery of long-haul fibre telecommunications infrastructure, specifically ICF (Inter City Fibre).
Sound knowledge of Telstra Fibre network design architecture.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal teams (Design, Construction, Planning, etc), offshore design partners, third party ariel design partners and the Client.

GIS (QGIS/FieldMaps) – Desirable
Telstra DBORS (Multiman, MITS, ADR, NetFacility, etc) - Desirable
