Job Description

The Design Intern supports the Engineering & Design team by assisting with mechanical design projects, developing CAD models and drawings, and preparing documentation for manufacturing.

Role + Responsibilities (includes but not limited to)

  • Assist in creating and updating 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Support development of design layouts based on customer specifications.
  • Help prepare engineering documentation and models for manufacturing release.
  • Assist with layout of customer drawings for processing on lasers, punch, and press brakes.
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to meet project requirements.
  • Support maintenance of standard parts libraries and documentation systems.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Office, and Outlook for documentation and communication.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (coursework level acceptable).

Travel Requirements

Minimal; occasional on‑site or shop floor exposure may be required for learning purposes.
