Department Summary
University Centers and Events (UCE) encompasses the University Union, Gateway Center and Coliseum. University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community.
This role is responsible for overseeing Design Works, the UNT University Union's retail design and print shop. This position oversees daily shop operations, ensures that all produced materials meet established quality standards, and promotes the shop’s services to customers. This position must exercise fiscal responsibility and work to assist the Associate Director in developing budgets for Design Works. This position will also assist in the coordination of marketing priorities (including advertising and promotional materials) for the Union and some areas of operation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience in communications, marketing, advertising, or public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to think creatively, organize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Ability to visually inspect products in multiple formats and assess and improve.
Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others.
Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Skill in talking to others to convey information effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to operate computers, large production printers, laminators, and other print-related equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign preferred.
Knowledge and experience with print process, including but not limited to: setting up files, paper stock, and print production.
Experience with retail operations and point of sales systems.
