Under the authority of Program Vehicle Chief Engineer, the Design to Cost Manager leads Total Production Cost and vendor tooling design to cost activities to ensure economic convergence on Top Hat perimeter from Pre Contract Milestone up to Tooling Kick Off of last Reskin.
Responsibilities
From Pre Contract Milestone : 3 months to Contract Milestone
He defines with the project team (Chief Vehicle Engineer, Project Economic Manager, Project Technical Manager ..) the technical scope of Design to cost activities
He identifies main gaps to target (TPC/VT) for DtC perimeter
With support of Engineering team and Cost engineers, he proposes, with a bottom-up approach, technical definitions consistent with unitary targets
He challenges the engineering teams on their referentials if needed
He interacts with the DtC process manager if needed
From Contractual Milestone to Supplier choices
He contributes to RFQ target setting process (under responsability of the Project Economics Manager)
During sourcing process, he monitors TPC/VT convergence status on DtC perimeter and performs in close collaboration with Project Economic Manager convergence actions if needed
He ensures consistency between technical definition and TPC/VT status
He collects, from suppliers, the saving proposals
From supplier choices to TKO milestone
He leads regular TPC/VT convergence meetings on selected commodities with engineering teams, suppliers and cost engineers
He generates, with suppliers, TPC/VT saving potential and brings them to a decision-making process
He leads a global TPC and VT evaluation with suppliers and cost engineering to secure a robust TKO
He is accountable for achieving TPC/VT evolution targets after supplier choices
Performs lesson learned
He delivers, after last TKO, a final TPC/VT status of DtC perimeter with best practices and lesson learned
Interfaces
With Program Chief Vehicle Engineer for arbitrations on DtC perimeter
With Project Economic Manager for TPC/VT target setting and convergence activities
With Project Technical Manager and engineering teams for consistency of technical definition and economic status
With suppliers for TPC/VT convergence and TKO securization
Engineer degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position.
Good knowledge of automotive project processes.
